Best modern day cast and excellent sound.
The video is ok. But the end of Gotter is stupid. And why are the characters always falling down?

I hate the Scala with the ridiculous dancers.
Robert Levine of Classics Today has a lot of good things to say about it in his review on CD&LP.

I thought the women were a little light, but I liked Tomlinson’s Wotan most of all (I’m talking about the video) not the audio which I haven’t heard - actually, I didn’t now it existed.

So the question I have, and hopefully someone here will answer: Is the Barenboim CD set the same performance as the DVD?

I hate that Levine was a different performance on CD with a lesser Siegfried than was in the DVD.

I re-read the review above. Robert Levine doesn’t between distinguish audio & video.

However, despite the dancers, I'd rather watch the Scala Ring than listen to it on CD as the cast isn't quite as strong vocally, yet visually this is an interesting production. So, I am happy with the availability of these Rings and am happy to have them in the formats that have been released commercially.

I am watching the Scala Rheingold and find the dancers very distracting and rather moronic writhing around on the stage half dressed. Otherwise I like it, especially Loge which the Larry-of-the-Three-Stooges hair style. I won't be pursuing the rest of this Ring on video as the dancers ruin it.
