Default Favorite Shostakovich symphony cycle, nominating round

What’s your fave DSCH cycle? Nominate one or two each day; if two, they must be on the same post.

Two nominations by different people will put a cycle on the voting list. The voting list will be limited to a max of 15 cycles so that the normal poll format can be used for the voting round. Please post in this thread if you’d rather it be done differently.

    So – here we go!

Thanks! To all, please name both the conductor and the orchestra -- or, like Ashkenazy, "various orchestras".

Andris Nelson’s cycle with the Bostoners is shaping up very well but is not complete.

    Nominate:
Caetani, Orch Sin Mliano Giuseppi Verdi

Both these cycles are surprisingly good. BTW Oleg Caetani is the son of conductor Igor Markevitch. He chooses to use his mother’s family name.

    On the voting list:
    Barshai, WDR Sinfonieorchester
    Haitink, Royal Concertgebouw
    Jansons, various orchestras
    Kondrashin, Moscow State PO
    Petrenko, Royal Liverpool PO

    Nominated:
    Ashkenazy, various orchestras
Caetani, Orch Sin Mliano Giuseppi Verdi
    Kitajenko, Gürzernich Orchester Köln
    Rostropovich, London SO (mostly)

Had forgotten to indicate Haitink's Decca set perfomances were divided between the Royal Concertgebouw and London Philharmonic Orchestras.
