    Hi, I´m new here

I am 52 years old and a life long lover of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock.

Two years ago, while channel flipping, I saw some classical music. I paused and listened a while. I liked what I was hearing. The guy on the violin was really good. Like a good Metal guitar solo.

    It was Vivaldi´s Four Seasons.

I bought the CD on Ebay and cried my way through it on the first listen. It was the most beautiful music that I had ever heard.

Since that day. I listen to 99% clasical music. I still love my Rock and Metal, but classical music just moves me.

I like Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, Paganini, Schubert, Schumann, Albinoni, Boccerini, Borodin, Brahms, Bruckner, Mendelsohn, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Strauß and others.

So much music to discover and so little time!

Welcome to TalkClassical, Judas Priest Fan. Your musical travels sound similar to mine (although I started with rock and soul). Once I began to shift to classical, I quickly listened to little else. There is an enormous amount to discover, and I hope you continue to find wondrous works to adore.

    Hi,

Similar here. Judas Priest, AC/DC, Budgie, Iron Maiden. Head in the bass bin at Motorhead gigs. What was I thinking?

My dear Dogen - we didn't think, that's why we did it!
'...a violator of his word, a libertine over head and ears in debt and disgrace, a despiser of domestic ties, the companion of gamblers and demireps, a man who has just closed half a century without a single claim on the gratitude of his country or the respect of posterity...' - Leigh Hunt on the Prince Regent (later George IV).

Indeed. And now I am incapable of thinking.

When I started listening to classical music, I abstained (sp?) from listening to Metal and Rock for quite a while because I was afraid that my new found love for classical would be diminished.

But, fortuneately, that´s not the case. I can enjoy both

I have only attended one live Symphonie performance, that I enjoyed a lot. I am planning on seeing more in the future.

In 3 weeks I´ll be going to a Rock show again (Monster Magnet); of course I´ll be using hearing protection

I used to listen to them a lot before I turned to the lord.

    Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome, but I have no interest in religion.
