    The continuo is more obviously needed in the Italian operas. The recent use of forte pianos for this by some conductors annoyed so people who wanted the harpsichord back.

    I don't know what's right or wrong or up and down when it comes harpsichord as basso continuo in Mozart or Haydn - all I know is my ears prefer to be without it.
