Hi and welcome to TC. Think you will love it on here and everyone is so friendly.

I also love most of the composers you mentioned with my favourite two being Brahms and Schumann.

Well looking forward to reading your posts

Welcome. Some of your favourites are mine too.

I found a really good way to quit a board: you change your email for a new notification alert but inadvertantly make a mistake in typing the email. D'uh...

I didn't know there was traffic in this direction. Amazing!

I mentioned the TC games to Baron Scarpia because he participated in some of them on the other site.

I'm not sure where to ask this, but what is "blog this post" about?

Try it! It turns the post into a blog entry, accessible via your profile page (or indeed on the left of posts). If you don't feel rash enough, I've just done it to a post of mine upthread....

Can other people see your blog, or is it just a personal list of posts you are interested in?

Yes others can. And leave comments.

Hit the Blogs tab at the top of the front page to see various ones...

I came here when another site I visit was down. I find it off-putting that it seems every time I visit here there another thread has been started about how modern music is inferior to Beethoven, atonal music is inherently ugly, etc. I won't be participating further.

We do try to moderate posts (and threads) of that kind where members simply dismiss or attack modern or contemporary music, but there do seem to be a few people who regard its very existence as intolerable. Since we do not want to exclude people on the basis of their views about music, nor do we want to censor opinions that we may not share, we simply ask that people remain civil and respectful in debate about this and other topics on this forum. We also have many members who are advocates of20th century and contemporary music, as I am sure you will have noticed.

I'm sorry, by the way, not to have noticed this thread until today as I see that you hadn't until now received a welcome from the forum staff.

Welcome to Talk Classical, Baron Scarpia, although it seems that it is something of a "Hello, I must be going".

I assign no blame to the forum staff, of course. It is a self-organization phenomena. People of a certain outlook happen to come here, and people of a different outlook gravitate somewhere else. It is not even that anyone is uncivil, just that I find it incredibly boring to see the same thread, "why is atonal music so horrid" and the same people typing the same dismissive stuff, over and over, as if they don't remember typing the same thing in virtually the same thread the week before. It is like posting in Ground Hog's Day.

    Anyway, cheers.

I wouldn't judge TC too harshly. I happen not to think that atonal is inferior. But that's probably the way it is on most forums that aren't "specialist forums" that truly cater to one type of music.

The thing I didn't like about GMG is that when I was active on there people were always pushing new CD's. Here people do buy new CD's but also post about CD's that aren't new. I get a lot of ideas as to what might be interesting to listen to.

People are really nice on here. (They put up with me!)

I tryed to register in https://www.good-music-guide.com/ but my account was been deleted by owners immediately. I could sent only one message but it was not approve by adminstrator.

In the other words, I added this recource in my own black list.
