Spot on! Even though I don't play CDs any more, I find that a major purpose of CDs that downloads cannot replace.

I replied with quote to several of your posts and then saw a note that the replies had to be screened. Now I notice that the notes telling me of the screening process are gone and the replies are gone as well.

I see the yellow warning about the 10 posts and 12 hours up above. So I don't know if my replies will show up or not. It has been several hours but I don't know what the screening process entails.

I hope that my replies are not lost.

Love your intro. Welcome to TC from a fellow classical guitarist (who also plays as a hobby)

I don't recall anything like that but then maybe it was different when I joined. I do remember I had to make 10 posts before I could do something, edit my profile I think. I hope the replies are not lost. Screening means they should appear sometime soon (once a moderator looks them over). Look forward to the replies when they appear.

I'm not a big fan of random playlists because they pick and choose tracks and not entire works.
It does depend on how the files are organised, if a work has a file for each movement then a playlist would be able to pick just that track, whereas if the work has all movements in one file then you get the whole movement.

Couldn't agree more on "audiophiles"! I firmly believe equipment matters in reproducing the closest possible sound as played by the performers. Unfortunately I know too many people who only listen to the squeaks and quirks produced by their equipment. I've been trying very hard to turn them into music lovers ever since.

Good to know there is an (ex?) naim user out there!

Perhaps a more important question, what kind of classical music do you like? Any favourite composers, works or performers that you care to share?
Check out my response to Judith where I attempt to answer my favourites. That is an extremely difficult question to answer for me.

I actually maintain a listening diary because I can get stuck in a listening rut (groove??). The diary helps keep me wandering about in the classical music universe.

I've given up trying to turn audiophiles into music lovers - of any genre. Gather together a group of audiophiles to LISTEN to music and see how quickly the attention starts to wander back to the equipment, setups, etc... squeaks and quirks (love that)...Anyway, that has been my experience.

Yes, I awoke to find them posted, and the magic number of 10 post has been reached, the yellow warning sign gone. The gates have been opened.
