    Default Hello

Hello everyone I am happy to be a new member of your community. I have been listening to classical/concert music since I was about 20 (I'm 26 now) and still consider my self very much a beginner. I lack technical knowledge but hope to gain enough to appreciate the music I love even more. Some of my favorites are heinrich schütz, Bach, delius, Mahler just to name a few. If anyone has any recommendations of composers, conductors, or which forums are good for a newcomer it would be much appreciated. I'm sorry if my writing comes off poorly I have very bad writing anxiety.

Hello BB229, welcome to Talk Classical. Your post came accross nicely, and quite clear for me. That's a very good list of composers to like, and I don't have technical knowledge either. I would ask you how do you listen to music (which media, like streaming or cd; headphones, earphones or speakers) and when, but you can reply when you feel the need to (I'm currently being over-shy in the place I live and have not been able to make a single friend in two months, and I panic when I have to pronounce a sentence in English).

You just reminded me of a random Star Wars android, but that's just a joke.

That's a wonderful list there and a wide range of styles. I'm sure around here you'll discover a lot of composers who fit in those styles.

Welcome. How about checking out some opera?
"All of Italian opera can be heard in [Bellini's] "Ah! non creda [mirarti]."
--Renata Scotto in "Scotto, More Than a DIva."
