    Default Adrian Clarke passes away on September 10th




    The death is reported of Adrian Clarke, after a long illness.

    Adrian last sang a year ago at Covent Garden and was scheduled to appear in next year’s Rosenkavalier at Welsh National Opera. He served as professor of voice at Trinity-Laban in London.

    He was particularly cherished for his roles in contemporary operas – the Librarian (Sophie’s Choice), Augustus Carmichael (To the Lighthouse) and the title role in Blond Eckbert.

    Default Annette Jahns (24 June 1958 – 11 September 2020)




    The Dresden-based mezzo-soprano Annette Jahns has succumbed to a long illness.

    She sang at Bayreuth, Salzburg and La Scala and enjoyed a second career as a director.

    Default Paschal Allen passed away on September 5th





    The Irish News has a belated obituary for Paschal Allen, an Irish baritone who sang for 15 years in the Royal Opera House chorus in London.

    He also sang at Glyndebourne and with Benjamin Britten’s English Opera Company.

    Paschal died in April of Covid, aged 87.

    Default Jan Krenz 14 th July 1926 - 05 th September 2020



    The Polish conductor Jan Krenz died today, aged 96. He made his debut on 6th January 1946 with the Łódź Philharmonic and wielded considerable influence on the flowering of new Polish music after the war, especially the works of Lutosawski and Bacewicz.

    From 1953 to 1967, he was chief conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, touring extensively to Russia, Mongolia, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. From 1968 to 1973 he was Artistic Director of the Grand Theatre in Warsaw

    Abroad he conducted Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Copenhagen from 1966-1968.In 1979 he was named General Music Director of Bonn, where he expanded the Beethoven orchestra to 122 musicians.

    The Scottish-born opera singer Caroline Kaart, a popular presenter of opera on Dutch television and radio after she retired from the stage, died today aged 88.

    Default Daniele Carnovich passed away at 63



    The early music group La Venexiana has suffered its second death with the loss of the Italian bass singer Daniele Carnovich. He was 63.

    Based in the Spanish town of Fuenterrabía and married to the Spanish mezzo-soprano Maite Arruabarrena, Carnovich performed internationally with leading baroque ensembles.
