    Default Direct Stream Memory Player

I think this is a significant breakthrough in CD players. Why? It takes the CD file (which is PCM or pulse-code modulation), uploads it into a memory buffer at 10x, then plays it back as bit-stream audio (which is really a trade-name for PDM (pulse-density modulation).

If you study bit-stream audio (PDM), you realize that it's essentially an analogue signal. It shows up on 'scopes as a wavy line, just like an analogue signal.

This process makes your existing CDs sound better, approaching SACD fidelity, and reveals information in them that you never heard before in the PCM playback.

I urge all audiophiles to listen to as many of these YouTube videos from PS Audio as possible, so you can begin to realize what a significant breakthrough in digital audio playback this is.

I wish I could afford to get one.

Snake oil. CDs have redundancy and unless they are damaged will play without any audible flaw. Even if they are damaged, they can recover and correct flaws. This is another audiophile example of a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

But I do like it when an audio company can't figure out how to do something as simple as properly miking a person in their own promo video! Lousy sound inspires confidence!

Just from a logical standpoint, it doesn't make sense for you to dismiss two video presentations like that. It sounds like you are paranoid, or are avoiding facing whatever real issues are involved. Your reply has no credibility, it is just negativity with no content.

I don't. I think bigshot, and his ubiquitous presence, and his credentials as a sound engineer, indicate the unspoken infrastructure of this forum: certain individuals are working for the forum, formally or by informal agreement, to "police" the forum, and to keep things within certain bounds.

Bigshot himself is not perfect; by his own admission, he was kicked off other sites for trolling, which he freely admits:

Ooo! I just googled to see if I could find the picture of the Synergistic Research placebo device and I found a nice article about me and my friend! I wear the title "banned user" proudly. I was banned for speaking the truth and proving it.

I don't work for the forum. You're projecting your own insecurities on me. I'm not engaged in any battle with you either. This is just an internet forum. People are here to share information and learn from each other, not to manufacture an image and attach their ego to it. You're grabbing on way too hard. I think you should go out in the sunshine and interact with real people. The internet isn't a good place for you. You need to develop some real world socialization skills.

    No, not formally.

Here's more about jitter, which relates to the OP:

It sure seems like it, the way you always have to be "right" and always have to have the last word. Just look at the thread index, your name is on almost every thread.

You're the one who listed his credentials, and who has gotten banned from other sites for being so obsessively persistent in pushing your ideas, not me.

I think you need to jump into an ice-cold lake, and realize that there are other people out there who apparently hear things that you don't.

I already answered all this. The levels that jitter occurs in even the cheapest home audio components is an order of magnitude below the threshold of audibility.

Just Detectable Threshold in Music 20ns

    http://www.nanophon.com/audio/1394_sampling_jitter.pdf (cited in section 2.2)

    Please calm down.

Calm down? I'm totally relaxed. If I get excited, I'll go to all caps in my text.

Jitter is real, and it's audible. Just watch the video. It's going to show up in the higher frequencies. That's where CD sound is most criticized, for its inability to reproduce cymbals and violin sections, and highs in general.

"Jitter matters more to the ear than it does to a piece of electronics trying to find a bit."

I cited the accepted threshold of perception for jitter above. Go look at measurements and try to find something that has jitter levels in the nanosecond range. It's all an order of magnitude less in the picosecond range. That isn't audible. Do the homework and figure out how stuff works. Don't just take the word of audio equipment salesmen.
