    Default Hello from France

    Hello,

    I'm infracave, 30yo, from France.
I'm first and foremost a huge Beethoven fanboy (especially the late works) and I also listen to a lot of Renaissance/early Baroque stuff (Josquin, Ockeghem, Gesualdo, Monteverdi, Frescobaldi).

And yes, I don't really listen to much music after Beethoven (although Schubert has started to grow on me), I really have a hard time appreciating Chopin, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Tchai et al. Maybe too programmatic for me.

So I joined this forum in order to expand my taste and knowledge, and also because I'm sometimes bored at work. :^)

PS - I do not have any formal training in classical music. I just know a little bit about theory and forms in addition to being a really bad piano player.

Welcome to TalkClassical (TC), infracave. I joined TC for exactly the same reason although I wished to learn to like modern/contemporary music. Many of us have no formal music training - we simply love classical music and sharing that love with others.

Nice to have you with us. You'll definitely be exposed to music in eras both before and after what you listen to, and eventually doors will open. That's what happened to me. Well, except for Chopin and opera; I still can't fit through those doors.

Welcome, infracave! I bet the more you hang out here, the more you will be tempted to listen to other composers.

    Thank you all.
@Manxfeeder Chopin was one of the composers that I used to love when I first got into classical, now i can't listen to another nocturne.
