My custom studio monitors have all JBL parts- 12 inch five ways. The tweeter is the bullet super tweeter, which I believe is piezoelectric. The 12 inch woofers have the cloth surround. They've been working perfectly since the mid 1970s.

No, and stop distorting my statements with your "bait." I said the speakers came out of a disco, but they are JBL Studio Monitors, not "disco" speakers, and I consider 12" to be a "big honking speaker" which will reproduce Mozart as well as Hendrix. Some of us around here have eclectic taste. What's your problem?

That's bull, and pure speculation. The tweeters are NOT blown; they just sound terrible, like all titanium dome tweeters do.

Stop trying to contradict the thread premise: TITANIUM DOME TWEETERS SOUND LIKE CRAP.

Either those "metallic sounding" tweeters are not titanium after all, or they were replaced by titanium drivers, which might explain the unsatisfactory sound.

Of course we have no idea what speaker millionrainbows actually has.
They are 4411, with titanium dome tweeters. How dare you contradict Me?

You are confused. I'm looking at them right now, and they have 12" woofers.

If you think JBL Studio monitors with 12" woofers are not worth it, then that's your own thread. THIS thread has its own purpose, as per the title: to spread the bad news about those HORRIBLE titanium dome monstrosities.

No, not necessary: the cymbals on Jimi Hendrix recordings sound just as harsh and unpleasant to me as the icy, brittle strings on Mozart recordings. You see, my brain has learned to ferret out these things. It's called "critical listening."

Oh, yes, I forgot to add: TITANIUM DOME TWEETERS SOUND LIKE CRAP in case you haven't grasped that concept.

Ye, but the purpose of this thread is to explode the status quo, and put the emphasis back on subjective listening. You are just a "corporate yes-man" with no opinion if you think otherwise. Besides, I'm speaking from experience, not some marketing mumbo-jumbo like "they were highly praised." By who? What does that matter?

My subjective opinion of titanium dome tweeters are the ONLY thing that matters in this thread. The rest? Just monkey-like aggression. OOO! EEE!

If you have the old ones, then your tweeters are actually silk dome tweeters, according to JBL literature.

Not sure what the heck you're talking about here. I was simply trying to identify the speaker model and learn a little about it. If you want us all to concur with you that your titanium speakers sound like crap, that's something we really cannot do, because we've never heard them.

I wonder if Millionrainbows is putting on an act to draw attention to himself on the internet, or if he behaves like this in real life? I sure hope it's not the latter, because that would make just about any kind of social interaction very awkward. People like that have a very hard time interacting with other people. They can be very lonely and not be able to do anything about it.

Oh, well, as long as it's about ME! Not boring old people like bigshot.
BTW, TITANIUM DOME TWEETERS SOUND LIKE CRAP, even if you've never heard one. Take my advice.

Post # 43...I'll be checking back for this. Ad hominem is a 2-way street, re: How to set amplifier input sensitivity.
