    Sounds like a Beecham-style adaptation of a baroque or pre-baroque dance.

    This is the final chorus from Jean Jaques Roussau's opera Le Devin de Village (a man you might associate more with philosophy than music) It's a really fun tune. You seem to have found a version without the singing, though:
