I may have to take a pass on this thread as there are issues here which apparently cannot be resolved. It's a mystery as to why some Chrome users have no difficulties while others such as myself do not notice any improvement.

Update: five minutes later - all photos in all posts appear - I will continue to monitor this situation - hope all works out as I rather enjoy the thread.
I've found the effect is not browser dependent (similar results with Chrome, Safari, etc.) and only happens with images uploaded to TC, and not to external images that are just linked. My suspicion is that the TC server has a load management feature, in which it serves explicit images if it is not busy, but conserves resources by providing a link instead if it is busy at that particular moment.

This theory has a great deal of credence as I've been experiencing a significant amount of server timeouts but with checking the thread ow using Chrome half the photos were missing upon first accessing the thread, did a refresh and all of them appeared. Opened up an Edge window, logged on, and all of the photos from the last five posts were missing; refreshed the page and one photo in five posts (13 potential photos) appeared; refreshed and they all disappeared. Checked Chrome and all are available. Who knows, eh? - Might as well stay with Chrome although my theory about creating the posts using Chrome would somehow allow the photos to appear with Edge has been conclusively proven to be false.

It is hard to imagine how the browser used to create the post could be resposible, either the image is uploaded or it isn't. It is possible the the browser used to view the post could have something to do with it. Basically the browser gets the html file which contains links and then it is the browser's responsibility to identify other elements like images and retrieve them. Back in the days of slow dial-up internet it was common to set the browser not to download images automatically. But in view of the fact that I see the effect only on this site, and with all browsers that I have tried, leads me to conclude it is the server that is holding the images back.

I think dependence on load is the most likely explanation. At one moment it could be that there are, by chance, 17 people clicking something and the server is stingy with images, and at the next instant no one is clicking but you and the images come through.

The way around it is to link external images, but of course you then run the risk that those images won't be available indefinitely.

Your explanation sounds far more likely than mine but the problem is that this issue never actually occurs anywhere other than in the thread that I created - the images (thousands upon thousands) in "Current Listening" are always there without fail- even the posts with up to five images. I've never seen this effect anywhere else on the forum in any other thread which leads to the inescapable conclusion that they must be doing this on purpose in attempt to drive me out. I'm not entirely certain who "they" are or why "they" want to drive me out but at this stage of the game only paranoia appears to be a valid consideration.

I got this error message yesterday while browsing TC. Don't know if it's related.

I am sure that is not the case. For instance, earlier today I visited the "bargains" thread in the recording board. The post made reference to an image, but I did not see it. (It stuck in my mind because I recalled your problem with images.) Just as in the case of your thread, I found a link that I had to click a link for my browser to show the image to me. I visited the same thread just now and the image was there by default. So the haphazard serving of images occurs in other threads. If it is not your thread, you are less likely to notice if an image is missing. Perhaps your images are bigger than average and the server is more stingy with them.

My thanks for the efforts that you've made on my behalf - they're greatly appreciated. I do have to wonder why approximately 80% of the photos within that thread have always appeared without fail and have not been affected by any of the issues that I've been writing about - they're always there whether accessing them after first logging on or refreshing them after viewing - there has never been a change in their status regardless of when I log on or what I'm doing - it really is only half a dozen posts which are consistently troublesome. After switching to Chrome there has been a significant increase in thread stability.

No problem. I understand the frustration of a computer system that doesn't quite do what it is supposed to.

Well, it would probably help not to post as many photos in one post. The system can't handle it depending on the browser. And different browers will interpret the HTML in different ways.

I'd say the bullet proof way to do it is to copy the images to a free image hosting site like flickr and put links into your TC page using the {img}{/img} tag (use square bracket rather than curly bracket for the actual tag).
