How about an obscure Latin American living composer's opera overture?

Eduardo Alonso-Crespo (b. 1956) - Overture to the opera "Juana, the Mad"

A short overture to Hanson' s only opera: "The Merry Mount". On a side note I had the honor of meeting him and playing under his direction. Also I have a recording of his nice verbal comments he made upon hearing a piece of mine.

Rarely heard Irish Romantic composer (William) Vincent Wallace's opera overture to "Maritana". Very enjoyable piece.

A guy who wrote lots of operas. This one's overture is quite spirited after the opening chords

Was used in the movie Trading Places with Eddie Murphy. I believe most if not all of the overture was used to open the movie. Try to imagine that kind of usage again in today's movie.
