After an insane number of upgrades, I finally got this:

"if a horse could sing in a monotone, the horse would sound like Carly Simon, only a horse wouldn't rhyme 'yacht', 'apricot', and 'gavotte'. Is that some kind of joke?"

I've made a number of upgrades in the past few months, so here is a current list of gear:

    DALI Epicon 2 speakers
    SVS SB13 Ultra sub
    Pass Labs INT-150 integrated amp
    Esoteric K-03 SACD player
    Oppo 105 Blu-ray player
    VPI Scout 1.1 turntable/Ortofon 2M cartridge
    Parasound ZPhono phono stage
    Sennheiser HD800 headphones
    Woo Audio WA6 headphone amp
Nordost, Audio Analysis interconnects; Kimber Kable speaker cables

The Parasound will be replaced with a Musical Surroundings Nova II phono pre-amp as soon as my wife approves another purchase!

    I am still old school.

    JVC-Fz258 CD Player
    Pioneer PL-115D turntable w/ Ortofon OM5E cart.
    Pioneer SX-737 receiver
Pioneer CT-F2121 tape deck (which I hardly ever use anymore)
Montgomery Ward GEN 6691A floor standing speakers w/15" woofers, 5" mids and 4" flare dome tweeters (I have no idea who actually made them)

I am going to upgrade to the OM 10 stylus and see if it makes a difference.

How does the Woo WA6 sound? I tried the WA7 at a headphone meet and it was really beautiful.

I really am hankering for one of those new Focal headphones. Heard the French did it well.

It's the only headphone amp that I have tried--it sounds fantastic! Infinitely better than the built-in headphone amp in my Oppo--much warmer, more spacious and detailed. My CD player doesn't have one.

iTunes on the Mac in my bedroom,
    which streams to an
Apple TV in the living room,
which is connected via HDMI to a
    NAD T747 A/V receiver,
    which drives a pair of
    PSB Image B25 speakers.

When I play a opera or concert DVD or Blu-ray, or (rarely) a CD that I haven't ripped to iTunes yet, I use an Oppo BDP-80 player which is also connected to the receiver.

Another old schooler here, have recently "updated" my amp for something newer and speakers for something older

Mantra Manticore turntable w/ Mission Tonearm & Grado Signature 8 cart.
    Vincent Phono Stage
Cambridge Audio Acur 640 V2 Amp
Wharfedale Dovedale SP speakers w/2x6.5" woofers, 4" mids and 1" dome tweeters

    Blasts out nicely
