Hello there!
I love classical and baroque music, having accidentally discovered it in my childhood after finding a trove of old (bootleg) music cassettes belonging to my father. Back then I had no idea what that music was, except that I loved it with all my heart and it would give me a sense of joy and completeness.
I'm no musician and no means an expert, but I still appreciate it very much and I would like to learn more about it so as to enjoy it at an even deeper level.
Unfortunately, I now live in a place where classical music is regarded as the exclusively domain of the rich and posh... which is a pity. Being of the "wrong" social class shouldn't be a reason not to enjoy great music. At least where I grew up it was more inclusive, as there would be concerts and even operas available for all budgets, which allowed me to enjoy a fair number of them (even if sometimes it was just rehearsal).
So I've joined this forum in hope to get a chance to discuss about classical music with fellow enthusiasts and thus expand my horizon a bit.![]()
Other than being passionate about baroque and classical composers (Vivaldi, Bach, Händel, Mozart, Beethoven...) I also enjoy some movie soundtrack composers (Ennio Morricone, Vangelis, John Williams, Philip Glass...).
Which rare exceptions (Grieg, Wagner...) Romantic composers haven't really grown on me yet, but maybe I just need to learn to appreciate them better.
