Tonight, talkclassical.com is very slow to load initially and then to change pages when I click. It takes about 15 to 20 seconds each time. The problem is only with this website, as other websites are fine. Even so, I rebooted my computer and cable modem, which didn't help. My download speed is about 140 Mbps.
I was kind of surprised not to see a post from somebody else about this already. Am I the only one experiencing the slow access?
I am having problems as well, clicking on thread link in an email and then waiting 20-30-40 sec for a connect, but in the same email if I click on a 2nd link eg, YT etc it gets A into G and woooof you are there??
CT, USA......site incredibly slow (others are fine), can't get the editing functions to appear no matter how many times I refresh the page (Yes, closed browser, cleaned cache, etc.)
It is still extremely slow here this morning. I cleared my cache and reset the cookie, but it didn't help. Ping rates are fine, though. I'm certainly no expert, but it seems like that might indicate there is a problem with the server fetching data.
My internet connection speed remains right on track (600Mbps thru Comcast) and other websites are normal. Only TC is leaden.
In answer to your question, adriesba, two followup questions:
1. Is your internet connection speed fast enough that a slowdown on TC would be noticeable?
2. Are you located outside the U.S.? Maybe it's a localized internet gateway problem.
1. My internet speed is about 114 mbps. The pages here on TC and other sites load very quickly, nowhere near the 20, 30, + seconds that others mention.
2. I am in the US, but some mentioning problems here are not.
Seems fine now, but was undeniably slower last night. As I am all too familiar with browser and signal issues with my laptop I also tried accessing TC via the phone but to no avail.
Was Dorset Mike referring to overnight server back-up?
EDIT: I think I may have spoken too soon - slow again loading pages.
Site has been extremely slow over the last 24 hours. I've tried it on multiple computers with different operating software and the results are similar. I'm in the U.S.
The response times are rather high today ... hovering around 16 seconds. Two days ago they were normal at an average of 1.03 seconds.
There are a number of situations that can contribute to the slowness today
1) hosting service maintenance - Backups, etc.
2) minor updating of our software by the owner.
3) sun spots and/or alien presence .
There has been no downtime of the servers and according to our monitoring service we are 100% online. November showed that we were at 99.7%, but zero downtime.
It will get better ... usually does ... If something major happens we will let you know!
The server load averages are well within acceptable ranges.

Here in UK current speed 89M, site is taking over 1 minute to open initially and also to open a thread or post, but leaving a thread "go back" is normal almost instant
Slow again this morning for me. Not as bas as yesterday when the site was loading at Celi speed. Today its a slow Klempy. Hoping it will get back to Stan the Man speeds very soon or even better, Norrington.
Edit: I'm back to Celi. You can keep these zen loading speeds. I'm not on dial-up any more.
Very strange. In Nottingham UK, with broadband speed of about 27Mbps, and the site is entirely responsive and always has been (i.e., I didn't see anything yesterday to indicate a problem, either).
I use 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare) as my DNS provider, so I don't know whether network routing issues or DDoS attacks (which Cloudflare mitigate) might be at fault. To those experiencing the slow-down, try changing your regular DNS provider to 1.1.1.1 (or Google's 8.8.8.8) and see if that helps at all.
Edited to add:
There is definitely something weird going on, however:
Now, I don't know what DNS provider that website uses to get to the websites it's trying to check, but I think the fact I'm typing and posting this whilst that site thinks this one is down-and-out definitely indicates network routing issues.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
