    Default Prokofiev?

Help me out on this one, I'm having a brain freeze and can't place it. I've been through the obvious Prokofiev and Shostakovich piano pieces but have failed to track it down. Is it an orchestral piece being played on the piano? I know it so well too...

Ah, I think it's the Gavotte from Cinderella, but I'm sure someone else will confirm...

Sounds like it - presumably from the set of three excerpts from the ballet arr. for piano by the composer.
'...a violator of his word, a libertine over head and ears in debt and disgrace, a despiser of domestic ties, the companion of gamblers and demireps, a man who has just closed half a century without a single claim on the gratitude of his country or the respect of posterity...' - Leigh Hunt on the Prince Regent (later George IV).

ὃν οἱ θεοὶ φιλοῦσιν ἀποθνῄσκει νέος [Those whom the gods love die young] - Menander
