Default Fourth piece of wedding arrangement.

I think I have enough file capacity to post the fourth piece to identify in the wedding arrangement. It is once again just the first sixty seconds of the piece.

Sounds like a slow performance of this Handel Bourrée, but it may not be the version from this sonata as I imagine Handel recycled tunes here and there:

If you're concerned about file capacity you can always upload the clips to an external site (Vocaroo is useful) and post the links here.

Thank you very much! I listened to the video you posted and did not immediately recognize what you obviously heard right away. I did pursue your input. I found a slow violin version of Bourree by Handel which helped me to hear you are 100% correct! Thank you so very much.

The input and feedback from the members of this forum have been tremendously valuable. I cannot express my gratitude in a manner which really expresses how much I appreciate everyone's help!

    THANK YOU!!!

I will investigate Vocaroo. In the meantime I will post the next piece.

    Default Piece number six

To everyone on this website and forum. You have been helpful beyond compare. Thank you one and all!
I realize the act of identifying the pieces I have posted may seem trivial to you but I am not a musician. I enjoy music of all kinds but I do not have the ability that you have. So, thank you once again for assisting me in my endeavour.

    Here is number six......

This is an arrangement of the traditional Coventry Carol ('Lully, lulla, thou little tiny child') - perhaps someone else will be able to identify who made it.

I do not know how you do it! That did not take you any time at all! I googled your suggestion and without a doubt you are correct! Come to find out it is an "Anonymous" 16th century piece. Thank you too much!

I will post the next piece.

    Default Seventh piece to identify.

I do realize piece number five is missing. I was able to identify it myself.

    Default Remaining three pieces.

For the sake of time, I am posting the remaining three pieces to identify. Pieces nine and ten sound familiar to me so I am sure the members will make quick work of it for there will be no challenge for their expertise. Piece ten is only 60 seconds for I have reached my limit. Thank you all!!!

Piece 8 is J.S. Bach`s Air on G string from Orchestral Suite no. 3, BWV 1068.

Piece 9 is Handel`s The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from Solomon, HWV 67 / Act 3.

I think Piece 10 is the same as Piece 3 and is Bach`s slow movement from BWV 1043.

    Highwayman,

Great job! Thank you very, very much. I never made the connection from the VHS recording pieces 3 and 10 were the same. I checked the original to be sure I did not post a wrong, duplicate recording. You are correct. I guess that is the reason why piece ten sounded familiar. Thank you so very much for your valuable input.

I suppose pieces number one (1) and seven (7) are the only ones remaining unidentified??? I do not believe piece one (1) has been romanticized by the performers. They were inspiring teenagers at the time of the recording, although anything is possible, just unlikely.

    Thank you Highwayman!

    Forum members and readers,

Your assistance in my quest to identify these ten musical pieces as been invaluable. I cannot thank you enough!

As I continued my efforts to identify the two remaining mystery pieces, I think I my have stumbled upon something which may help. It is merely an assumption on my part but I am approaching this from a logical perspective more than a musical one.

As the pieces started to be identified, I noticed three of the pieces were by Bach, two by Handel, and the other two (Greensleeves & Coventry Carol) by 16th century Anonymous composers. Bach's concerto for two violins BWV 1043 (largo ma non tanto) was repeated due to the recording was of two weddings combined onto one VHS, one for each sister. The violinists were in their late teens and twenty. I am assuming their repertoire was limited but I may be wrong. If I am correct, I have three composers to concentrate and pick from.

So, we have Bach, Handel, and Anonymous. As I listen to pieces 1 and 7, I am leaning more towards an Unknown composer rather than Bach or Handel for piece number 7. Does this help anyone or spark any thoughts?? Your comments and feedback are welcomed.

#7 sounds more classical than baroque, it makes me think of a song by Mozart or Haydn that has the voice part played by the violin, but I can't pinpoint it. Could be some simple "folksy" Schubert song too.

I think you could be right - it has a strong Schubert vibe for me. Something like Frühlingssehnsucht from Schwanengesang.

Thank you RobertJTh and Art Rock. I will poke around the internet and see if I can find a match. Great input. The more I have to go on the better, especially when I have an agreement between opinions. StephanD

Does anyone agree with "Shazam says: Bach: BWV552 no 1 " posted by Rogerx? I did not hear the first piece I posted in any version of Bach I've listened to. I appreciate EVERYONE'S input. Just because my untrained ear could not make any musical connection to Bach's work, doesn't mean it is not correctly identified. Did I miss something? Is Shazam correct? Can anyone let me know. Thank you.
