    hey, i'm new here... 16 years old (almost 17) senior in high school... i want to go to college for musical composition and conducting as well. i dont really want to be involved in mainstream music in my career, even though i do listen to some of it and have, at the very least, an appreciation for all music.

    i grew up on classical music because of my fathers wide taste in music and today it is probably what i listen to most among a few other types of music...which surprises most people because i don't look like the type that would.

    some of my favorite composers are beethoven, chopin, rachmaninoff, faure, prokofiev, korsakov, bach, mozart and schumann. much more of course, which i'll inevitably talk about at some point in this forum...

    so yeah, thats me.

    oh and i want to find someone who loves faures pie jesu as much as i do. i envy composers who can put tremendous depth and beauty in something so simple.

    Hi there. Good to see another young person who loves classical music.

    I also hope to study composition at a Conservatorium - the audition is actually only a week or two away, and I can't wait!

    Btw, that's an excellent Beethoven quote in your signature.
