I've heard this piece at several dance recitals (called things like "Mechanical Doll" and "Maypole Waltz") - I always figured it was from something like Coppelia but that doesn't seem to be the case (at least, I can't find it on the recording I have). Anyone else know? Thanks in advance.
Sorry for resurrecting an old topic, but in case anyone was curious, I just FINALLY identified this myself - it's one of the movements from Shostakovich's "Dances of the Dolls". Hurray!
Edit: Scratch that, I just realized that the "Dances" were actually just easy piano versions of movements from his ballet suites - this one is the 5th movement from his Ballet Suite No. 1.
