Once again with the dogma. I suspect that English is not your native language, but surely you should know the difference between your (often misguided) opinion and absolutes. For your information many collectors still buy LPs.

Rotfl, this thread is from 2006. I love when myaskovsky resurrects old, burned out threads just to write "Hello. I like this. I don't like that. I'm not smart. LOL. Martin".

If he just said (from a different thread): I don't like Gergiev in Russian operas, I prefer Svetlanov, I'd have no problem. But it is always "Gergiev is B.A.D." or "Gergiev is ****" without any basis and that gets my goat. Oh well, with all the LOLs and stuff I thought maybe he was some 12 year old pulling legs.

    Default I don't think...

it is my fault if moderators keep a site so long.
Anyhow, you have many places still offfering LPs.

About the fact you consider my English is bad...I have no problem with that. The Russian guy's English is much worse.

I consider myself as a specialist in Russian opera (I'm sorry, but it is true), I am also in a Rimsky-Korsakov group and every real amateur of Russian opera will tell you that Gergiev is not the best choice, he's not awful but he's not that good. You can also take a look on comments about him on amazon.com.

Some people don't like me...I don't like some people either. You don't want to follow my suggestions? Please be free to do whatever you want. I thought the word **** was fordidden here.....

Buy Gergiev! The renaissance of the capitalism in Russia! Svetlanov, Melik-Pashayev, etc were from the URSS...when money was less important than art! Gergiev was honest saying he didn't have money to hire very good singers...

Well that is certainly different than random pronouncements from on high. What is your CV?

    Default my CV?

Are you offering me a job? LOL

I was working in information systems for 26 years, actually I'm teaching languages. I started with classical music when I was 12. At 17 I had read all Gogol, 98% of Pushkin, 45% of Dostoyevsky, a lot of Turgeniev. In 1970, I travelled to Russia and stayed 45 days, I met Dmitri Shostakovich there, we had a cup of tea together, he was very friendly but very sick, I went again in 1971 for one month. I bought 70 LPs the first time and 75 LP the second time. I started seriously with Russian classical music and mainly opera. I started studying Russian two years ago and as you can see in my collection, 70% of my music are Russian.

    I am 59 years old.

    Default about the word curioser

English is not my mother tongue (somebody has already said that) and curioser...I have no idea what it means...

I am curious by nature. Not a curioser...(I'm not sure about the meaning)
