I never listened to this before (I think), and I loved it, especially the first two movements. For the 1st movement I just wrote down in my notes "Wow!". The second sounded familiar, perhaps it has been used in a movie or something like that?

Nearly all of the Brahms that I own (which isn't that much!) is chamber music (the exception is the violin concerto),

48/1 was great, I really liked it. 48/2 I'm not sure sure about. I don't think I really "get" it, but upon a second listen it started to come together more. Maybe I'll really love it after a few more listens!

I tend to like this kind of "chant" music, and this recording is no exception. This is nearly entirely plainchant - there are only a few times where there is any harmonization of the voices (those moments really stand out). It does somewhat run together, but since it's a style that I like, that's OK. Perhaps if you listen to a lot of music in this style, the subtleties

I enjoyed all 6 of the Op 18 quartets, but I think 18/5 was my favorite. All the movements were great, especially the 3rd.

I liked this, but unfortunately waited too long to write about it. I did write down that I particularly enjoyed the "O quam glorifica" hymn, and the Motet on O quam glorifica/O quam beata domina/O quam felix femina.
