What 'I' like is when some of Stockhausen's more starry-eyed devotees expect one to speak of that musical charlatan is solemn and reverential tones. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha

You're thoughts are of a different caste entirely, SLGO. <Clink.> Cheers.

I wouldn't call Stockhausen comedy. But I would call him a joke with props.

I just wanted to register my thanks for the art works you've put up. Being tremendously ignorant they are all unknown to me, but I have really enjoyed seeing them. Thanks!

Hello there. I just liked your post about currently listening to Elizabeth Wallfisch performing Rode.

I love you avatar & profile pic. Who is it a picture of?

    Hi StLukes

I meant to ask this early this year before you got sent away for three months (three months!! I can only assume you "buggered the bursar", as Michael Caine would say). Anyway: did you end up getting the Christian Zacharias Scarlatti set? What did you think? Any favorites? I'd be very interested to hear your take on this.

Battalia is brilliant! I had performed in it some years ago on viola (with full on baroque technique too!) and that was my introduction to the composer. :)
I'd be interested to hear some more of his choral works, I believe I've only heard one choral work by him but I can't remember which one exactly...
    Thanks for the recommendations! :D

Who is your favourite for Biber's Rosary Sonatas? I've been a fan of his music for quite a few years (he is my favourite composer-violinist), listening to stuff on YouTube mainly and I would like to possibly get some recordings. I have Wallfisch's recording of the Rosary sonatas but you've mentioned Manze's recording quite a few times too...I know you rate Biber highly, so what other recordings of other music by him do you also recommend?

On the Mozart thread, I didn't read the previous posts when I posted some of information demanded of us. I see now that you already provided it, and then I did so again. I wasn't trying to steal your thunder there. :)

Thanks so much for these links Stlukesguild. I'm really sorry it's been so long since I've responded, I was meaning to but then completely forgot. I've been digging through these links for the past few days, I didn't know wikipedia could help so much. Cezanne, Degas, Turner, Bruegel, Titian, and El Greco are the ones I've been really attracted to as a first look at their paintings. I'm enjoying the experience a lot, thank you for helping me get started. I will probably be taking a college course next semester in at least an introduction to Art History.

    Hi StLukesGuildOhio,

What would be a good place in terms of book to read to start out in learning more about the visual arts, mostly painting? The Old Masters plus the Post-Impressionists have interested in me greatly in the past few months, but the literature on the subject is so vast that I can't find where to start. Any books on any subject on painting that have been influential to you would be much appreciated. Thanks for any response.
