  1. Today's Composers
Here is a piece I wrote for a competition. The task was to set the words of John McCrae's poem "In Flanders Fields" to music. So far, I believe, I am the only entrant, so I stand a fairly good chance of winning :D Any feedback is appreciated.
  2. Strings
Hello everyone! I have been playing piano for almost 12 years now and I really want to expand my horizon. I've been interested in studying the violin and was wondering how smooth the transition would be (like is it fairly easy to pick up as I have advanced knowledge in reading music/theory?)...
  3. Recorded Music and Publications
I am very much enjoying a download of the 9th, in CD quality. The SACDs of these performances are available at HMV Japan at fairly reasonable cost, and am wondering if anyone can comment on them.
  4. Classical Music Discussion
We have had a fairly popular thread for pieces that have blown us away, but often we have expectations for a piece that lets us down. What are some pieces which you were expecting to be blown away by, but weren't?
  5. Composer Guestbooks
Floored by her genius and proving again the excitement in new trends in British composition. Fairly young and delivering great stuff as one can see here.
  6. Composer Guestbooks
Fairly popular symphonic, concerto, and chamber music composer. Deserves to be recognized here at least.
  7. Classical Music Discussion Polls
    A fairly self-explanatory title.
  8. Opera
I'm looking for operas that have fairly simple grammar for the most part, and possibly have spoken bits as well, I'm going to need to learn Italian at some point for a trip, I already know some Russian, and I know French very well.
