I have heard her a couple of times on Sirius and was impressed. Her Abigaille was pretty riveting. Has anyone heard her live? It sounds like an enormous voice but recordings can be deceptive. My disappointment in her is from what I heard, her high C tends to be flat. Chime in on your opinions...

How about posting a short autobiography? Presented for your approval, my quickie autobiography: Michael O’Connor A Short Biography Michael O’Connor was born at a very young age in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 18, 1953. From the very beginning, he demonstrated an unusual talent for being a...

I was just wondering how many of you held ever held jobs in classical music. Not nescessarily as a performer (albeit do blow your horn if you do, I have tons of respect for the people who could tough it out as performers), but I was looking more into the promotion side of things. I'm going to...

I think they're all good in their own way but I'm wondering what people are partial to. Personally, I'd take any of them if they are high enough quality.

If you were one of the unlucky ones who saw Jessye Norman late in her career on PBS opening Seattle's new Benaroya Hall you were subjected to a mezzo who completely and utterly failed to hit any of the high notes. Norman achieved her greatest fame after she lost 100 pounds and looked better on...

I noticed while searching youtube that the modern performances always, or almost always, do not take the high note. What's up with that? Can't sing it or choose not too. I like it :)

Does Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto represent the high point of his compositional career? I realize arguments can be made for a few of his symphonies, string quartets, piano sonatas, or numerous other works. It's been argued that the 5th isn't even his finest PC. Still, in terms of structure...

I have a dream that one day a great modern composer will write a neoromantic opera influenced by wagnerian Musikdrama style with a story from A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) as subject. Seriously, all the great high phantasy literature from Tolkien to G.R.R. Martin could be an infinite...

I have a feeling it has rarely been sung. Does anyone know of anyone who sang the high Eb in the Triumphal March of Aida?

Whilst on a driving holiday recently, I stumbled across the Mado Robin Museum a few hours south of Paris. For those who aren't familiar with Robin, she was a French coloratura during the 50s. She's famous for hitting high notes...really high notes. So high, that it's surprising that it's still...

do you like falsetto? why/why not? personally, I find it repulsive (with one or two exceptions). it's thin, unsupported, generally lacks control (especially on high notes) and generally comes across as supplicating and lacking conviction or solidarity.

I found this cover online for Abravanel's Mahler 6 on Vanguard but it's blurry and I don't like it. Does anyone have a high res version of this cover?
