In the first version, the last movement was the Grosse Fugue, but since it was considered too extreme, Beethoven replaced it with an other movement.

Outstanding. I only listen to it when it ends with the Grosse Fuge. 9.5 out of 10 to my taste.

Grosse Fugue added, or in replacement of the Finale?

Like all late Beethoven it is beyond excellent.
It's not my favorite of the quartets, overall an almost paradoxical piece, with some of the strangest or most difficult movements (1st, Grand Fugue) but also some of the most immediately appealing ones (2nd, Cavatina, Danza tedesca).

I think that the Finale is also immediately appealing and more than "Danza Tedesca".

The Cavatina movement at 24:41 Beethoven is reported to have been said that this movement moved him to tears. This is so fascinating, that in someways, his expressions exceeded his understandings as if something else, something beyond the realm of mere entertainment, some sort of an emotional conundrum which could only be answered emotionally, impacted Beethoven just or perhaps to an even greater extent than it does to listeners (atleast in my case). This alone incident is, in my opinion, the most terrific instance in my way of looking at Beethoven's life..
