Probably stag. A month or 2 ago I saw a stag beetle in flight something I can't recall having witnessed before. They are rare and big slowish brutes and at the rare occasions I saw one, they only crawled around.
It's a split between Paul & George. Paul has many great hits. The early solos were pretty solid. But ATMP is my fab solo LP and there are about half a dozen other songs I like. Also the Traveling Wilburys.
John is my favourite Beatle. Although I see myself more in Paul who was very bossy. My role in my own bands was always very Paul McCartney -- I was always there producing the stuff, being the Mr. Know-All... I understand the role and it is vital. Somebody has to push the fellows to do their best.
But my heart goes out to John who was more of a fragile kind of an artist. John was sensitive and even insecure. His lyrics and harmonies are superior whereas Paul was the superior melodist. They compensated each other extremely well.
George Harrison wrote my favourite Beatles song, though. Here Comes the Sun!
I haven't got a favourite as such, but Paul is the one I admire the most because of his attempts to keep The Beatles going once they started to lose the collective will to live during the White Album sessions. Also, he was proved right when he went to the High Court in 1971 in order to get The Beatles dissolved as a partnership. The others hated him for it as it looked like he was spitefully dumping on them from a great height, but eventually they realised that for one thing it resulted in Allen Klein being unable to have any more control over both the band and the Apple organisation.
After the Beatles: Paul. That said, none of the four made any albums (or even songs) post-Beatles that I would rank among my favourites. Paul came closest with the Band on the Run album, John came closest with the #9 Dream song.
By the way, does it somehow make more sense to ask who was the favourite Beatle than who was the favourite Rolling Stoner or the favourite Guns n´ Roser or the favourite Beach Boy or the favourite Queen member?
The question of the favourite Beatle is way more frequent. It is a standard even.
My favourite rock musician of all time is Brian May. Such a brilliant mind.
Wonderful people, all. Especially considering the once in a century fame and wealth they experienced. I don't consider Ringo to be an underdog. They got rid of Pete Best and hired Ringo for good reason. He was the right man and drummer for the job. He might be the most sensible of the fab four. Next to John, I like his singing voice the best.
Of the fab four themselves, I like John the most (I voted for him), both as a Beatle and post-Beatles. I prefer Plastic Ono Band over all except less than a handful of the Beatles albums. I don't like any of the other albums by the others.
