I'm confused. All three of the Furtwangler recordings - 1942 BPO, 1951 Bayreuth, and 1954 Lucerne - have been nominated twice. Doesn't this qualify them?

Hurwitz has hacked this thread and removed the Furtwängler recordings!

A mistake on my part, the spreadsheet wasn't updated correctly. I'll correct this in the next update.

ATTENTION:

The moderating team has investigated and discovered several voting irregularities, meaning we will need to redo the first 6 rounds, starting with this one. We will be playing by the current rules, found in post #120 in the main post.

Starting from now, we will need to redo the nominations for the Beethoven 9th Symphony. Remember than you can only vote for 5 recordings once, and we will vote on all nominations. The current rounds will not be affected.

It all sounds very cloak and dagger! Can we, mere mortals, get at least a simplified description of the "voting irregularities"?

Looking at the 'banned' moniker next to qute a few names, as I tried to find my original B9 nominations, it looks like some weird, pathetic human being(s) were cheating in some way (well that's putting 2+2 together). Haha. Who would be sad enough to try and rig these polls? Nothing surprises me on forums, anymore.......😜

Returning to nominations I'm going with:

Karajan / BPO DG 1977
Leinsdorf / Boston RCA 1969
Munch / Boston RCA 1958
Suitner / Staatskapelle Berlin Denon1983
Solti / Chicago SO Decca 1972

I'm pleased to see that without the votes from now-banned accounts, Herreweghe would have won the Bach Mass vote. The lengths to which some people will go beggar's belief. Some of those banned acoounts have even interacted on other threads, praising themselves for their choices. Bizarre behaviour.

I stopped participating on all polls based partly on my gut-feel and suspicion of what went in some of these threads. Perhaps it's time to venture back. Kudos to Injing for having the determination to start-over.

Harnoncourt 1991 Chamber Orchestra of Europe Teldec
Ádám Fischer 2019 Danish Chamber Orchestra Naxos
van Immerseel 2008 Anima Eterna Brugge Zig Zag
Chailly 2008 Gewandhausorchester Leipzig Decca
Honeck 2021 Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Reference Recordings

Suddenly, this dude finds Jesus after I sent a couple of hookers to his hotel room as a way to induce him into playing "The Great Violinists".... Oh yeah, and he also completely emptied the mini-bar...

The kicker? - The dude played like once, maybe twice... and was never heard from again....

Abbado - Berliner Philharmonker - 2000

Abbado - Wiener Philharmoniker - 1987

Chailly - Gewandhausorchester Leipzig - 2008

Giulini - Berliner Philharmoniker - 1989

Giulini - LSO - 1972

Well, I stopped participating in "all" polls between Quarter-final groups B and C of the Great Violinist polls. Participated in Groups A & B. Didn't participate at all in Group C or D. Didn't participate in either semi-final. When it came to the final, I decided to participate in just that one poll as I was already vested in the outcome.

Not sure how that makes me a hypocrite, but whatever.

Thanks for the hookers but that Jesus dude didn't bring the blow. 😎

I'm not sure if the new nominations are still taking place or if it's here or what but my picks for the 9th would be:

Wand / NDR SO RCA 1987
Karajan / BPO DG 1977
Bohm / VPO DG 1972?
Fricsay / BPO DG 1957?
Chailly / Gewandhaus Decca 2008

(I don't have my notes with me for exact dates)
