While there enjoy some Cabrales for me!

While I have visited Spain twice, once as a child and more recently as a middle-aged adult, I have never been to Asturias. Unfortunately it is unlikely to happen anytime soon with the COVID pandemic.

Now I have to go find myself some Cabrales! There is a cheese store near my home that carries it, but ironically I am currently traveling myself.
will do

In other words, what Shaughnessy quotes is only part of the story. Asturias (Leyenda) forms part of the suit española and the inclusion of Asturias as a separate piece after the whole suite was included in the game is not correct.
In other words, what Shaughnessy quotes is the only part of the story that really matters -

"The name Asturias (Leyenda) was given to it posthumously by the German publisher Hofmeister, who included it in the 1911 "complete version" of the Suite española, although Albéniz never intended the piece for this suite."

Thus, as per the expressed desire of the composer who actually wrote the work in question, as opposed to the completely arbitrary - almost capricious - actions of a German publisher who unilaterally altered the works of a Spanish composer against said composer's expressed intentions, Asturias (Leyenda) should not have been considered part of the suit española and thus the inclusion of Asturias as a separate piece after the whole suite was included in the game is correct.

However, Shaughnessy will graciously concede that a fluent speaker of Spanish of unknown origin has the edge on being able to copy and paste Wikipedia articles in Spanish with greater skill and dexterity than an English/Irish speaker born in Dublin, Ireland.

But that's just about all that I would be willing to concede.

In other words, what Shaughnessy quotes is the only part of the story that really matters -

However, Shaughnessy will graciously concede that a Spaniard fluent in Spanish has the edge on being able to copy and paste Wikipedia articles in Spanish with greater skill and dexterity than an English/Irish speaker born in Dublin, Ireland.

But that's just about all that I would be willing to concede.
I am not a Spaniard.

No need to apologize - I changed it to a "fluent speaker of Spanish of unknown origin" - If it wasn't for the Spanish, and based solely on temperament, I would have thought you were Irish...
I am not Irish, though have many Irish friends and colleagues.

Given that the Turina is obviously not allowed, that should leave 5.

Huber - Symphony No. 2 "Böcklin Symphony" (1897)
Spohr - Symphony No. 4 in F major (1832)
Stenhammar - Piano Concerto No. 1 (1893)

Two left presumably.

I dropped the final selections into excel. Here's the distribution by decade. I think this makes an interesting symmetry when compared to the 20th century game we recently finished where we saw a clustering toward the early part of the century.

View attachment 168084
The years 1870-1960 are when the majority of my favorite works of classical music were written, and I think that applies to numerous other listeners as well.

Oh well. I would have liked to squeeze in Glazuunov's violin concerto, and maybe another concerto or two by Vieuxtemps somehow.

Most of the classical music I listen to belongs to the19th century, particularly it's second half. To me this represents much more familiar grounds than the 20th century game. A game with a 1000 entries would have been welcome, but would probably have been a nightmare to administer, and would bore most participants to death.

Given that the Turina is obviously not allowed, that should leave 5.

Huber - Symphony No. 2 "Böcklin Symphony" (1897)
Spohr - Symphony No. 4 in F major (1832)
Stenhammar - Piano Concerto No. 1 (1893)

Two left presumably.
I have recently got into Stenhammer's symphonies and found them riveting. Could not nominate them for obvious reason. I should check his PCs as well.
