Moderator Note:
I moved these posts from the current What's another year game because although they are extremely helpful, they do make monitoring the progress of the game difficult for me. We can use this thread from now on for the next scheduled games.

The first year of focus is 1919.

Will do from now on. If I forget, give me a nudge.
I edited Wikipedia 1919 page. There were some serious omissions, like Sibelius' 5th symphony or Elgar's Cello concerto. Maybe we can use this as an opportunity to improve Wikipedia. I don't know about other important works from 1919, but there are definitely more.

The only decade remaining to be plundered for this game is the 1990s.
Game 25. Stay tuned. :)

Carl Vine: Symphony 8 'The Enchanted Loom'
Jose Serebrier: Laments and Hallelujahs
Jose Serebrier: Symphonic BACH variations for piano and orchestra

From what I found on line the only clear dating is that it was premiered on January 15, 1941. Even the Britannica is not clear on when the composition was finished.
I went to the liner notes of my CD (Beroff et al, EMI), and they state "Messiaen composed this Quatuor pour le fin du Temps during the last months of 1940 and the first days of 1941". Let's go with 1941 for this work.

Just for info, 2018 was my last round. I want to concentrate on my own listening projects. Those 20 rounds were great, though, and I discovered several interesting composers I didn't know about.
Feel free to jump back in any time - I don't think we will be finished with this one before mid 2024.

I list both the original and the Ravel orchestration separately in my overview of all-time favourite pieces for the same reason. So, yes, I'd allow it.

I'd put the SInfonia in 1969.
