Not long ago I learned that Richard Strauss made an arrangement of Mozart's Idomeneo. Now I learn that he made one of Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride as well. What's more, there is a recording of it with Monserrat Caballe made in 1961. Now that would be interesting to hear. Alas, it seems to be on vinyl only. Has anyone heard it?
Wonderful, thanks! I am certainly interested. Have you heard it? Two out of three reviews in Opera Depot seem very enthusiastic.
The Opera Depot seems to have tons of other interesting stuff, too.
