If you read the thread, you would see how my ideas evolved as discussion went on.Ohh really?!
I do that type of separation too.I don´t really read them but it seems there are quite a few threads concentrating on the looks, physical appearance and sexual attraction of CM artists. Many of them created by @Captainnumber36 . I find it a bit peculiar. Maybe I shouldn´t because it reflects the over-visual (or excessively visual, what is a good English expression here?) world we live in. The field of CM is part of that world, although I personally do not pay much attention to the outer appearance of the artists, and if I do pay attention for some reason, I separate the thoughts from the musical and artistic experience.
You gotta take off those dark glasses, man!In answer to the OP - not one iota! 😎
I've often wondered if the "problem" is the high state of performance education. I was just talking in a chatroom/discord with some college students in music school who were quite frankly taking about playing pieces I've always heard to be professional-level stuff- it seems like kids these days who get quality education can play the Hammerklavier fugue movement standing on their head by sophomore year. If you have that many quality musicians, and you're a record label, you can pick and choose, and those who get the big bucks have a special factor about them, like personality, a marketable personal story, or yes, their look. The music and entertainment industry as a whole plays up the whole physical/sexual attraction angle to a degree. There is always a push to present the next new young and "attractive" artist, skill and ability not withstanding. As a general rule, over age and overweight, "unattractive" kids need not apply.
You know, there are several members here on TC that are women. Your post comes across as rather uncouth. If you think about it letting a man's playing or singing enter your ears and dazzle you with his brilliance is— let's face it— a little fruity— not that there's anything wrong with that of course— but as a raging heterosexual I can only bear listening to women— attractive women with perky bosom— not big ol' homely heifers like Birgit Nilsson— or dear God, Eileen Farrell— ew... no thanks!
