Ideas for Stupid Threads

We recognise that Stupid Thread Ideas was a popular thread. It was closed because of inappropriate posts.

We also recognise that it allows members to express frustrations and complaints in a disguised and (ideally) humorous (and not offensive) form.

We will not, however, tolerate offensive material nor any political posts. We will moderate this thread more carefully. If you wish this thread to survive do not stand idly by as one member did and say "I saw it coming. Too many politics illustrations and jokes", report anything that is inappropriate if you wish the thread to survive.

Apart from those caveats, feel free to suggest some Ideas for Stupid Threads.

String Quartet - 2nd Violin + Piano = Piano sextet

String Quartet + Viola = String Quintet

Funny thing about the Quintet though, it does mean that there's an extra string instrument, but it could be either a viola or a cello.
The first would be piano quartet, though! Minus the 2nd Violin!

More like an itch you have to scratch. Or, it's like you want to believe that there is life beyond earth; similarly, that there is life beyond ideas for stupid threads.

Where can I find the thread with the reprinted Sex Bots?
STUPID THINGS TO BE OFFENDED ABOUT

I'll start.

Do you find stupid thread ideas attractive?
Phil loves classical: Having given this question some more thought, it seems to me that the attractiveness of stupid thread ideas must be temporary. I guess it's possible that some idea can be both profound and stupid, meaning that it can be stupid in many ways or in one big way. But anything profoundly stupid cannot be attractive.

As for the 8,000-plus posts on Ideas for Stupid Threads, for me they aren't so attractive as to invite re-reading. Quite a few of them are funny, but only momentarily. Above all it's the word stupid that I don't like anymore, even as self-deprecation. I've enjoyed participating in this thread and certainly don't have any issues with people posting here. But I am looking forward to putting more time into other things.

Dr. Who says, "Alphabetize all CM and then only listen in alphabetical order." I don't know what he meant.

I like the sound of that: profoundly stupid. For me there is a kind of stupid I find attractive: funny and so outrageously silly, that it can't be accidental.

Listening in alphabetical order. I'm on B now: volume 8 of Beethoven piano sonatas with Garrick Ohlsson. God, the alphabet is LONG!!!

Not sure I should like this. The shades of blue are attractive. But f I'm supposed to be in that thing, G-forces have already done a number on me ...

My only consoling thought is that you might switch from composers to performers, in alphabetical order of course. "Ohlsson" begins with a nice round vowel for starting over again. And then "O" could also mean "Omega," the end. Or if that is too extreme maybe it's time for a spring break, even if there's snow on the ground like there is here. Or, ... well that's all I have to say before going back to the 200-plus orchestral suites I've listened to, and noticing the glaring and crucially important gaps -- ("what? nothing by Livonian composers?," my detractors will complain) -- ok, enough.

I think the TARDIS disintegrates itself and all its contents into individual atoms and transmits them through subspace. No G-forces.

Why hasn't NASA told us about this? Gotta keep up...

Well, we have composers to alphabetize and interpreters to alphabetize. Sounds like an application of Cantor's diagonal. However, all sets involved are finite ...

Don't listen to the math nerds, infinity is not a thing. It's just the number 8 passed out drunk!

Well yeah NASA... I wanted to be an astronaut but NASA said there was no space in their training program! What?!?

Since 0 is nothing, does that mean it doesn't exist?

Yes, 0 does exist in math, which means just about everywhere nowadays. Yet I still prefer the null set because it is more elegant. { }
