I'm not certain but there might not be any reception here:
Thing is,..."uh, hello. Who? Oh, hey!!...",...sorry, I gotta take this call!

Yep, we have all these fancy gadgets but our minds are still at the level of the apes. That's what I think when I'm in a very cynical mode anyway....Cell phones or no, it's not getting any smarter out there!
Can I add:My worst bile is reserved for -
1) People who leave them on during concerts.
2) People who chat loudly about their intimate life on public transport. What they did in Brisbane or Melbourne I think is have phone-free train carriages, it's a bit like the old non-smoking sections of restaurants. Mobile phone conversations are seen as pollution now.
3) People who drive using them and cause accidents.
That's actually been reported to have happened in concerts here. Some big wig corporate executives who think they own the entire orchestra - they probably do with their sponsorships, etc. - leave their phone on and then have the temerity to answer it. Obviously, it's on purpose. The total definition of arrogance if you asked me, & rudeness & heaps of other nasty things......
People who leave their phones on in my class AND THEN ANSWER THEM AND START CHATTING.![]()
Like people dining in a restaurant who receive a phone call and let it ring and ring and ring and ring, then look around the room as if to say "look at me, I have a mobile phone", then they answer it and everyone else hears their side of the conversation.. . . Obviously, it's on purpose. The total definition of arrogance if you asked me, & rudeness & heaps of other nasty things...
No, I would never want to go back to the old days.I dont own one and I never did. I think they are silly.
People dont seem to understand why I would want to be without a phone, but I dont get bothered by anything or anyone when I am out enjoying a nice day. I also like to ride bicycles, and part of the freedom of that is that I am going to rely on myself and myself alone when I have a mechanical problem out there on the back of the map in the middle of nowhere.
Also, if you were to go to lunch with me, I would be really there. Not physically there but constantly on a phone to someone else.
funny thing is that I stay in pretty good demand as a player, so I must be doing something right if all the other local musicians still want to put up with not being able to get through to me right away.
and after seeing my friends get cell phone call after cell phone call when we are hanging out, I can tell you all that you can have your cell phones...I want none of that
I can totally see the usefulness and why people use them so much, but its just not for me.No, I would never want to go back to the old days.
I want to (effortlessly) be in communication with family, I want the weather radar during most months of the year, I want to get the routes I need from GPS. I want my reminder notes, my security cam views. I want to see immediately where my wife is driving.
I have all my fake books on my phone! And many separate lead sheets (so many old standards). So convenient for when I’m away tuning a piano, checking the university pianos, being with friends and their pianos (parties). A dream come true to have so much music at my finger tips, and room for so much more.
My musician friends now say, “He’s probably got that on his phone, ha ha.” And I do..
