Here you can post your favourite pieces of J.S. Bach for the category "Music without lyrics".
It's a competition category of the Best pieces of J.S. Bach award.
Please, use the BWV identifier. If you want you can provide a youtube video with a performance that you like. If you don't provide a performance, I will select the perfomance i want.

A piece of J.S. Bach can be inserted here if it has ONE of the following features:
  • It's instrumental
  • It's vocal, but without words
  • It has lyrics that cover less than 50% of the piece

I selected BWV 1056 as the Initial King for this category.
You can rate the piece in this poll: J.S. Bach BWV 1056: Keyboard Concerto No. 5 in F Minor

The pieces you post here will compete with BWV 1056: the first of the list which will win against it, will become the new king and the following pieces will compete with it, until the piece is not replaced by an other king. The Final King will be the winner for this category.

I will follow the order of this thread, so the first posted piece will be the first one to compete with BWV 1056.

In this thread you can follow all polls: Bullettin of Best pieces of J.S. Bach award

Have the rules changed about what can be posted in "Classical Music Discussion" and what get pushed off to "Classical Music Discussion Polls"?

So far, there have been 3 selection threads and now a poll - All of which are placed in prime real estate - Can the rest of us now move our selection threads, polls, and games back down here?
I already asked that question of the OP. Stay tuned.

I'm not much for languishing in obscurity - and would thoroughly enjoy being able to play the main-stage here on Broadway instead of doing summer rep at Wigan Pier.
Can't say I think well of moving polls/games. As far as I'm concerned, the polls and games are the prime real estate.

I don't think that polls/games should be moved into "Classical Music Discussion" itself - The games would completely overwhelm the discussion threads - There would be tremendous pushback - and it would once again be like "The Lord of the Flies" here except without the glamor and exotic locale.

But I do think that the sub-forum "Classical Music Discussion Polls" should be moved down a level from its current location and relocated to the main forum title page listing - placed right below "Classical Musical Discussion" and right above "Religious Music".

I'm not entirely convinced that everyone in the forum - not just newcomers but seasoned pros - know just exactly where polls/games are located.

It wasn't my intention to derail this dude's thread - especially now that it's live -

See Posts # 1 for an explanation of how to play the game and posts 2 and 5 for responses.

Bach Solo Cello Suites
I will insert all pieces (from BWV 1007 to 1012) in the competition. However, according to the regulation, each piece of a collection must compete as a single piece. A piece, by definition, has a BWV identifier.
