There was a (very minor) hit it the early '60s, top 40 but definitely not top 10, which took it's melody directly from the opening of Mozart's Simple Sonata (K. 545). I remember that it even had the trill in the 4th measure, which certainly wasn't commonplace in pop music back then (and I suspect, still not now).

But I can't remember the name of the song for the life of me, and have had no luck searching for it online. Any old timers out there remember it?

Thank you. Interesting piece! But it's not the one I'm looking for, which was "Top 40" am radio stuff, and it had words, sung by a young woman.

I just heard this song while I was grocery shopping and did a little internet searching to figure out the title. If it's the song I just heard, then it's called Somewhere and it was recorded by The Tymes.
