There is a piece of Romantic Classical music played in the last few episodes of the series. I know it is really famous but don't know what it is. A plaintive violin (viola?) solo..... Please see attached sheet music. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Oh, a cello, oops! But yes, solved, thank you so much!!!! I thought it sounded too modern for the time period, and at least I was right about that. Adams died in 1801 and the piece is dated 1827. Thanks again!!!

Adams died in 1826.

My bad. The scene during which the music was played was, if I remember correctly, set in 1801. Thanks.

He was president until 1801. The Schubert was played at the end of episode 6 (and also before then, but I don't remember when). In any case, it was composed a few decades after the depicted action. Thanks again for the correction.

Had me going there...I didn't even know he was dead, but impressed that HBO had made a TV series about a modern composer 😉
