I'm just joking a little bit with him since his explanation of "i'm busing listening to Parsifal" has nothing to do with the opera itself, hence me saying "he's hard to understand". That's all

It was an operatic " figure of speech". Basically he was saying he has other things that are interesting him more. Figures of speech- I am sure Spanish has them- are among the last things non native language speakers get to where they pick up on. "Christmas in July"= a rare occurrence. "Slow as Christmas" means it is taking a long time as Christmas never comes soon enough because you can't wait. My personal favorite is "fat as Mama Cass" but that only has meaning for people over 60 who remember her.
