I have five iPods at present. My iPod touch is 4th generation. I was planning on upgrading to 5th generation but that model is now two years old. Internet rumors abound as to when the 6th generation will be released or, with the popularity of iPhones and streaming music, the iPod touch will be dropped altogether. iPod sales are way down by Apple standards.

I think that the iPod touch will remain in the lineup. It is still great for kids and audiophiles who don't want to use up their phone battery pumping away their music.

I hope that you are correct. If the 6th G ever comes out, I will be first in line. For me, the iPod touch is better than an iPhone. It will do most of the same tasks but has one big advantage: no one can call me on it.

Mine is blue just like in the link. I like that it has a larger screen than before, but not too large. My old iPod would lose its "place" in the music or random music playlist if I stopped and listened to podcasts. Now the podcast program is separate. I still have the problem when I listen to audiobooks however, but it's a very minor problem.

I would never listen to music on a device that might at any moment interrupt me with a phone call.

I'm with you there. It seems that if you answer, it only encourages more calls.

On a related note, my wife just got an iPhone 6 Plus. Seems that the damn thing will cost about $87.00 per month. By my rough calculations, to balance things out, that is about five new CDs per month for me.
