I had the first three composers - Schubert, Schönberg, and Ravel - down cold - Saint-Saëns was supposed to be a lock for 4th with Rimsky-Korsakov in 5th and Saariaho nailing down the sixth and final slot after a fierce battle with Rautavaara.

Saint-Saëns, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Rautavaara were left trailing behind Respighi and Schmidt throughout the course of the game and were always in a position in which they had to play catch-up - and they were barely - barely - able to hold off unexpectedly fierce challenges from Reger and Schnittke. Rautavaara finishing almost 80 points behind Saariaho was definitely not something that I had anticipated.

This game ended days ago - and this board is outdated by a full week - Game 8 is one play away from ending - Game 9 will probably start on Sunday. You need to learn how to find the last board of the last page or your posts will be declined.

I quite surprised by the results here: Mostly that Rimsky-Korsakov and Saint-Saëns were eclipsed by Saariaho and Schmidt.

I'm also surprised that Reger and Schnittke did so well.

Schnittke is a giant of 20th-century music and is infuriating that he's been beaten by composers like Respighi and (especially) Schmidt.

Not to mention that Rameau (!) finished with only 29 points.
