A conductor once humorously described Bolero as the longest 2 minute piece ever written. I took a stab at that approach way back in 1988, though mercifully 1/3 the length of Ravel's opus. I wanted to create a repetitive piece that built slowly, changing only the lyrics and the orchestration. I was also influenced by Don Henley's song Sunset Grill.
