How much of your classical collection is vocal vs instrumental music. This is ball park so just find the category that is close to what you feel you own. You don't have to go count CDs or anything like that.

A collection in the "mostly" category could be say 80% or more I guess. Again, just ball parking things here.

Instrumental music is my primary interest, but there is a lot of vocal music that is strongly appealing to me. As a result, I considerably expanded my collection of vocal music, including operas, last year. Still, my collection likely falls into your 80% category, Florestan. I have not taken into consideration the many albums that are primarily instrumental, but contain some vocal works, too.

I wasn't sure if you meant purely vocal or if vocal backed by an instrument counts as vocal. I chose the latter and selected "I have more instrumental than vocal," but I could have picked "mostly instrumental" and might have picked "almost mostly instrumental" if that category had been available. ;)

In principle I aim for 50-50. There are beautiful instrumental and vocal works from Baroque, Classical and Romantic for example. But I actually have no idea what I actually do have, I think it is about 50-50.

I am thinking this poll may be skewed to instrumental because it is in the Classical Music Discussion forum, which probably focuses more on instrumental music since there are separate forums for different types of vocal music.

The larger portion of my collection is instrumental coupled with bits and odds of vocal music. Save for a select few Operas, Concert Arias, Lieder and Sacred music, I don't particularly have a sizable vocal music collection. Perhaps with time this may change!:D

Wow, very difficult for me to guesstimate a proportion, but I said "50/50". I have a sizable opera collection with multiple recordings of several works in that genre; couple those with selections of Renaissance polyphony, oratorios, masses, numerous cds of Bach's cantatas, and various lieder (most prominently Schubert and Schumann) and it wold say my collection of vocal music rivals that of instrumental...

But there are also separate forums for solo/chamber, orchestral and ballet.

My collection is about 60/40 in favor of instrumental works.

Voted most instrumental works due to the amount of time of the music;

the Schubert lieder, Debussy melodies, Schumann and Brahms choral works, or Mozart vocal pieces, Baroque works etc. do add up as regards the number of pieces, but still I think there are fewer of them than instrumental ones, also because of solo piano works in the collection and so on.
