Just a thread to mention the last film you watched. You may write a little comment about it if you want.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I

I was a bit disappointed and it's my least favourite from the series so far. I can't really say much because I haven't read the book tho.

Inmersion:

This film is basically set on a lake in Chile. Therefore, this film is set in the Spanish language with subtitles available. This is an interesting and engaging film which is primarily about preconception and prejudice. It is one that is definitely worth a watch in order to test your own interpretation of the events. I found it to be well worth my time.

Excellent. Gripping and haunting.
I must agree with your husband. Pinocchio is a masterpiece of animation of Disney's golden age. After Dumbo (roughly the same time?) it's my second choice of their features. Those two and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves are beautifully realised films.
Dumbo is said to be racist. Jim Crow was the leader of the crows.

I'm reminded of this when recruitment agents call and ask what "skillset" I have. When did 'skillset' become a word? 'Skills' is a perfectly adequate plural of 'skill'.

I'll have to stop watching it then. Or just tell no-one if I do so.
Triangle of Sadness (2022)
🙄

I made it about 5 minutes in, part way in to the title sequence to be more precise.

I haven't seen this yet. I've been watching Ray's films (not necessarily in order).

Here's the Jimmy Cage review of this film:

This is
Apocalypse Now Redux

Apocalypse has long been one of my favorite movies and I watched over the years time and again.
This 3 hour 20 minute Redux is fantastic. Worth the extra time.
Apocalypse Now is a great movie. For sure. But I don't get it. Was Colonel Kurtz bad or good? And who won the War? Maybe they should make an Apocalypse Later movie.

See how I said "they" should make ;^D
John Wick Chapter 4.

Wow what a ride! I always found Chapters 2 and 3 pretty forgettable. But this one is the best since the original for me.

Chapter?

I am a bit confused. Can you explain? Is this not a self contained movie? Is this like a James Bond, same theme kind of thing?
What is this Jogn Wicks franchise if it is indeed a franchise? Thanks
You have me curious with your glowing embrace of this "Chapter 4."

They call each movie a chapter, which furthers the plot (or what there is of one ). There is less dialogue and plot than a Bond film, and more bloodshed. It's more a revenge action film than spy.

Yes it's a self-contained film but like many other film series eg Terminator, 28 <>s Later,
The Adventures Of Antoine Doinel, the individual films are analogous to chippers of a book (the series).
That's the name of the film.
Moreover, when did film series become 'franchises'?

It could be more a North American term. I hear of the James Bond franchise being the most successful in history (or at least previously)

I though they always were referred to as such.

So, I guess I can't say.
When they became cash cows rather than films. In the old days they were 'trilogies' or a 'series'. If at all, because in the past people made films for different reasons.

The Qatsi Trilogy was never a cash cow, simply a 3 film group similarly themed.
