The Met has announced a cast change for its production of “Norma” on March 17.

Angela Meade is replacing Sonya Yoncheva.

Not that I like Meade a great deal but it’s definitely an improvement. I wonder if she was replaced due to blacklash over her comments or other reasons? Or did she drop out?

As of now, at least, Meade is only singing tonight's performance and Yoncheva will be back for the rest of the run.

I think I am the only person here who likes her. She is not static. Her trills used to be lousy but she has really gotten them much better. Many find her voice too rich but I love the sound of it. I like her better in Verdi than Bellini, though. She was great here in Sieglinde.
