Had a duel between Schubert and Schnittke previously (where Scubert predictably totally wrecked Schnittke), but here is a more comprehensive survey. By the way, the Sch-prefix composers is probably the most successful Prefix (not grammatically correct, but how else show I describe it?) in music history. How many 'Moz' or 'Bee' composers are there?

Schubert, Schnittke, Schoenberg and Schulhoff.

Schubert, Schumann, and Schmitt. In that order, best to "worst" (although I love all three).

Schoenberg, Schubert, Schutz, Schumann, Schuman. I'd probably select Schnittke if I paid more attention to his music.

Why isn't there more love for Schutz around here? His music is a lot of fun (with the exception of those bare-instrumentated pieces written during the war). If you like the Gabrielis, you'll like Schutz. Brahms even gave him a shout-out in one of his motets.
