Daphnis et Chloe

I must say that Daphnis et Chloe is one of my favorite. It is just such an emotional piece, it moves me to tears.

"Finding Daphnis in tears, they comfort him and invoke the aid of Pan, at whose appearance (represented by the wind machine) Daphnis prostrates himself and prays for Chloe's safe return."

 

I went with Daphnes also, although the Sinfonia Antartica never fails to freak me out.

 

I prefer when composers make woodwinds howl like a wild gale.

 

Sinfonia Antartica all the way. That wind machine coupled with eerie wordless soprano makes me want to go turn the heat up even in summer.

Hello, long time. Thanks for the tip, I don't have Sinfonia Antartica, I will have to look into this piece.

 

Rameau - Les Boréades. Music that will whirl a long time afterwards in your head. Also one of the first syncopated Jazz compositions.

 

Does anybody knows when it was invented?

 

It was also used effectively in Strauss's Don Quixiote. However my note is for Sinfonia Antarctica
